There are literally thousands of affiliate programs out on the internet begging for affiliates to come along and pick them up and run with them.
Clickbank is one of the most popular sites for affiliate programs but they are far from the only ones and all the products listed do not necessarily offer a high commission rate. When choosing a clickbank product to market there are numerous things that you need to be aware of but they have been covered in another article. This article is to alert you to more possibilities of affiliate products than just clickbank which is a product on its own.
If you have found a product that you use daily and find very useful, check to see if they offer an affiliate programme because many of them do. Sometimes these affiliate programs are privately run by the product vendors and don't go through clickbank to manage their affiliates but have decided to do it themselves.
This can be both good and bad. From the vendors point of view it is considerably more work and they have to deal with refunds and payments etc. There are some excellent products for affiliate managers now on the market and in use.
From an affiliates point of view you will need to do some more homework and check the vendor out on Google to see what, if anything, has been commented on about their reputation or to see if there are any outstanding problems with their affiliate program. Google is a wonderful friend for checking out a lot of miscellaneous information but you have to re-check everything because it's also too easy for half wits to publish untrue comments that hurt a person's reputation.
This is where it pays to be an active member of a forum where you yourself have established an honest reputation and you know you are most likely to get an honest answer.
The highest paying affiliate program is not always the best. I suggest you do your homework carefully before outlaying any hard earned money on PPC campaigns or wasting your time doing SEO on web pages from which you may never have a chance to recover a return from your investment.
